1. What is fat?

Fat is one of the 6 major nutrients.

6 major nutrients posthttps://chefslaboratory.blogspot.com/2019/04/6-major-nutrients-for-body-basic.html

Fat is the biggest resource of energy, and when energy left in a body, it will be saved in our body as fat.

There are 3 kinds of fat. First one is Triglyceride, second is Phospholipid, and the last one is
Sterol.

Our body must need to have fat for living. Then what kind of food is known as a fatty food.

Hamburger, pizza, pork belly, beef tenderloin, potato fries, mayonnaise, and deep-fried food, etc.

Fat also not be used as a resource of energy, because it is too big to use. When we eat fat, our body decomposes fat to small and use.

Fat is only digested in the small intestine which has Pancreas juice. Pancreas juice is kind of digestive juice for fat. The stomach cannot digest fat.

When small intestine decomposes fat, fat will be split into 4 big chunks.
1. Fatty acid     2. Glycerol     3. Monoglyceride       4. Diglyceride

Our body only can use those 4 nutrients above as a resource of energy and making up the body.

2. Features

  •  Fat makes up our body
Our body is composed of 14% fat. Almost 50% of fat goes to the brain.

25% of fat goes to subcutaneous fat and liver.

The rest goes to everywhere in a body.

  • Stable resource of energy
When you work out or living, your body spends energy. It is from carbohydrate, fat, and protein.

Our body tends not to spend protein as a resource of energy and want to keep it because it is the source of muscle and lots of chemical reaction.

If we spend protein as a resource of energy, we will be lack of protein every day.

Fat can be a stable resource of energy because it makes the biggest energy.

1g of protein = 4 kcal
1g of carbo   = 4 kcal
1g of fat       =  9 kcal

When we work out, we also spend fat and carbo.

But! usage of fat is stable, it means not being increased.
If we work out too much, the usage of fat is stable, and the usage of carbo will be increased.

That is why if you do running so hard 15 minutes. It is not very different from 15 minutes of fast walking. Because you only use carbohydrate more, not fat.

  • Fat is a carrier of fat-soluble vitamin
Vitamin A.D.E is a fat-soluble vitamin. These are more easily absorbed when It is with fat.

For example, Lycopene in tomato is more easily absorbed when it is with oil dressing or cheese.
