Hi guys. Today I want to tell you about sodium which is important but also dangerous.
1. What is sodium
At first, sodium is a kind of Akali metal. Salt is made with sodium, but not 100%.
So salt is not metal, but sodium is metal.
Taste of salt is from sodium chloride. Sodium chloride is a combination of hydrogen chloride and
sodium. Sodium is metal, so no taste itself.
Sodium is usually outside of a cell, potassium is inside of the cell.
They are making balance.
*When lack of sodium for a long time, reduced digestive juice, stomach acid, and appetite.
What potassium do: https://chefslaboratory.blogspot.com/2019/06/potassium-version-1-1-modified-on-18th.html
Chemical symbol: Na
Chemical number: 11
2. Why should we have sodium
- Well-balanced between sodium and potassium
: If the balance is broken, you will face lots of diseases. For example, Gout, Addison's disease, and Cushing's syndrome, etc
- Make muscle's excitability weaker
: When muscle got a contraction, it needs to be released again.
But if muscle's excitability is too high, that muscle gets released is quite hard.
But if muscle's excitability is too high, that muscle gets released is quite hard.
- Managing balance of the osmotic pressure
- Keep body fluids Akali
- Helping to absorb glucose from the intestine
- Helping cell membrane osmosis of calcium
3. Negative effects
If we have too much salt in our body.
- Edema
: When a body has too much salt, the kidney will reduce urine to keep the water in the body.
This process will increase the amount of water in the body, and it makes Edema everywhere
on the body.
* This case only happens to someone who drinks plenty of water every day.
So, the body can handle the amount of water.
- Dehydration
: When a body does not have enough water, then extream thirst, vomiting, dizziness,
stomachache and diarrhea could happen.
4. Recommendation
2000mg a day
